October 17 and 18 - Louisville - Well………..it's official……..TiN CaN has made it's last trip of the season. Louisville was different this year…….it was cold, windy, cloudy...the field was a mud hole and no one had enough players. Yet everyone seemed to get plenty of playing time and get back to the hotels in time for plenty of football. A new  party standard was set….at 4th street live at Sully's. I'm pretty sure everyone had a good trip.

WELL……..THAT'S IT…….PUT ANOTHER SEASON BEHIND US………….

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO PLAYED OR PRACTICED WITH TiN CaN AT SOME POINT OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS.

WE'LL SEE YOU IN THE SPRING……DON'T FORGET TO STOP BY ONE OF THE 3 TiN CaN TaVeRNS WHEN YOU GET A CHANCE

September 12 - 2nd Annual TiN CaN 6 Pack Tournament This morning, I emailed the 5 teams that were in for the Tournament and thanked them for coming & hoped they'd be back next year. Within 30 minutes they all responded with a resounding "we had a great time & YES WE'LL BE BACK next year."  I hope all you felt the same.

As I told the guys in Chicago…….this is the best team we've had in 10 years, and you proved it again in our last game against Makers Mark. When we called the time out, with 7 or so minutes left in the game, and we were only up by 1 goal……….you guys stepped it up more than a notch (even after all that beer)!!! While the D was shutting them DOWN…the Attack buried 3 quick goals ….. To earn us a convincing win and 3rd place in the tournament.

Gatorade 3-0     Champions

Memphis 2-1     2nd

TiN CaN  2-1     3rd

The other thing that impressed me about our team…….was, this was the first time ever, for TiN CaN, that we had to limit the roster. And only Members got to play!

There were some Members that missed the cut off. So I guess that's another Benefit of being a member & being a regular all summer….You get to play in OUR Tournament !

I also want to thank our guys who played for other teams……..I know you'd rather play for us, but, as you know, traveling is tough & sometimes the other guys need help. We've been there…short of players…..when we've traveled, and know how important it is to help the short handed teams out.

It couldn't have been a better day for lacrosse……way better than staying home & cutting the grass!

A couple more practices………..then it's Louisville….10/17 & 10/18…….then we're done for the season. Can't wait to see what we can do there with 20+ guys !

August 29 - Chicago Tournament - It's a good thing the weather was unbelievable & there was beer on the field.  While we stepped up the numbers we brought and the talent of our team, the opposition really stepped up their talent pools!  We hung with Nashville & Windy City for the first halves, but not the second half. Then we had the misfortune of playing Lincoln Park…..and finished Saturday with NYPD, or NYPD finished us!

Here's the thing, while we couldn't bring home the Trophy - WE WERE IN CHICAGO PLAYING LACROSSE, HAVING A 'FEW' FROSTYS AND EATING DEEP DISH PIZZA!..........and Nate took his 1st faceoff !  I'm pretty sure EVERYONE had a great time, and no one got hurt.

August 23 - Hicks With Sticks Game - Talk about a GREAT day of lacrosse !!!!!!  Yesterday's weather was as good as it gets for Lacrosse, and we had a great time against Hicks With Sticks.  They were great hosts - dogs, burgers, pasta, beer, etc. and they let us win, too, 13-8!  Well, they didn't exactly let us win, but we did.  We even played a 5th quarter, just for grins.  Thanks again for your hospitality, Hicks With Sticks, and for 3 great games this summer !

July 25 - Hicks With Sticks Tournament - What a day for Lacrosse…….great weather, field in good shape, beer flowing & dogs & burgers on the grill…..scenery galore.

So we watched the newbees from O'Fallon get spanked by the Celtics….15 (or 18 ?) to 2. Then it was our turn to welcome them to CLUB Lacrosse. We had a good time. It was different, fun & not to hard……I don't know, the final was something like 17-20 to 1 (Rich just fell apart in the cage).

Then, the real games began……..1st with the Celtics. Halftime score……2-2. In the second half we really put it together…..and won 10-6.

Final game was Hick w Sticks, on their home field, with some new talent. This was no 15-11 type game like we played a couple weeks ago ! This was a real nail biter. Half time score……..2-2………final score 4-2 TiN CaN !

So……count it up….TiN CaN ……….THREE and OH !!!!!.that's 3-0 !!!!

A hole bunch of you guys stepped up REALLY BIG TIME, at both ends of the field, for this to happen. And as I told you on the field, this is the team that should be traveling to our out of town tournaments. I thought I'd mention a few of the standouts, but then realized if I missed someone, I'd never hear the end of it. So let me just say something everyone will agree with and I won't upset anyone……….

RICH,  YOU WERE UNBELIEVEABLE IN THE HOOP !!!!!     Larry Diamond

June 19 - Hicks With Sticks Game -  It was HOT on Saturday…….. But, of course, we played anyway………and it was a good game vs Hicks with Sticks. It appeared BOTH teams got some new talent, which made things more interesting. Not to mention the heat. The final was 16 to 11, with TiN CaN coming out on top. The most important thing was, that it was a pretty good game, and I think everyone had fun……except for the heat, of course.

June 13 and 14 - ShowMe Games - Got off to a fast start by beating the Milkmen from WI, by 3 goals, with some very aggressive defense & some great shooting at the other end.

Next was the Braves and while their offensive power was a bit too much the D again stepped up big time & the final was 7-4 with us on the losing end.

In our third game vs the Parkway West Alum, the younger legs prevailed, and we finished the tournament 1-2

Side note…..Robby & Bryan……I have gifts for you from Dora !

June 6 and 7 - Nashville Tournament - We had a great time, the weather was wonderful, fields were in great shape, live music at the field and cold beer!  The Saturday night party wasn't too shabby (FREE beer) either.  While we got some help from the local guys, our goal production might have been better if we had more of OUR guys.  Nate Stein was a stud in the hoop !!!

2008

October 18th and 19th -  Louisville was the end to another very successful TiN CaN season! It really was a good year. More members than ever before. Five tournaments in 5 months!  And our first, of many, St. Louis TiN CaN LaCRoSSe Tournaments!

Louisville was a hoot, it was 65 degrees and plenty of sun. No one did any drinking before 11am Saturday!!! And then didn't stop ‘til god knows when that night at the party. I saw a first (a rarity for me) and I've been doing this awhile.  During our 3rd game on Saturday vs Windy City, they called a time out……for a BEER break !! So, everyone took 60 seconds to have a beer!!!

I'm sure everyone is ready for a break…………we'll start up again in the spring. Until then, stay in shape, hit the wall & don't drink too much!

Thanks to all of you for supporting the club and playing the game we all love.  And a special thanks to Bryan Dieter for taking over the web site freshening it considerably and keeping it updated.

September 13th and 14th - TiN CaN TouRNaMeNT  - WOW……..Our 1st annual 6-Pack Tournament was a blast……and, very successful, we think…..6 teams from 6 different cities……..great weather (we pushed things together on Saturday & bagged Sunday, good thing!).  We want to thank everyone who played (for TiN CaN & helped out other teams), helped out, & officiated.  If you weren't there…..maybe next year. Oh yeah, there was a party too!  And from what I saw, many of you don't remember the party!  We're already planning 6-Pack '09.  Should have pictures on face book soon.

August 23rd and 24th - Windy City Shootout - Being back at the Chicago Shootout (now the Windy City Shootout) after a two year hiatus was wonderful. We played on new fields, right on the lakefront on the north side of downtown!  Chicago is a great city, and the breeze was wonderful. And, of course some guys partied REAL hard. But the best part was that TiN CaN went 2 & 2 !! Yup .500 ball !!

Not bad for some old guys & young'ns (everything's relative) ( who aren't even All Americans) !! As usual Rich was awesome in the hoop.

As an added bonus, when we played Lincoln Park Lacrosse Club, who had 4 Chicago Machine guys, one of them was Pat Hogan (for those of you who don't know, Pat is a Desmet Syracuse grad with 2 or 3 rings).  Pat played with us and while we still got beat pretty badly, it was a hoot to have him play with us & score a few goals.

For those of you who missed this trip, maybe next year !

August 2nd and 3rd - Show Me Games, Columbia, MO - What a surprise, it was 100+ degrees…….AGAIN!

Our first game vs the Thundercats went great, ‘til the second half. We were tied at 0-0 at halftime, then the heat got to us. We did much better in our second game vs Samurai, until they unleashed the 2 Hopkins guys, the Pro from the NLL and the 14 other studs, but we did have fun. Rich was great in the hoop!

Sunday we were shorthanded, so some of the guys from Wisconsin played with us. Again, the first half was our best, trailing 3-2 at halftime. In the second half we were short another 2 guys, and what can I say, things went downhill from there. Overall it was a good time & a good tune up for Chicago. It will be nice to get the team back together for the Chicago trip.

In the Finals, the Samurai defeated the Braves.

June 28th and 29th - Nashville Tournament - We played our first game against Birmingham and lost in OT 9-8. Its was a good game, we were a little rusty and were the better team and should not have lost. The second game against Louisville was the same. I cannot remember the score but they only beat us by two or three. We gave up some early on and had to play catch up and just ran out of time. As you can imagine by the third game we were wore our and were supposed to play Atlanta but they did not show up so we played a Nashville team made up of high school seniors, first and second year college guys. This game was a little ugly as they were tireless and we were exhausted. If we would have played them first or second I am confident we would have beat them. Older Mark, who is the doctor with the bad calf, tore his hamstring in this game.

After the games we went back to the hotel, crashed the pool and hung out with a cooler of beer. By 6:00pm we were ready for a night out on the town and managed to fit all 10 of us in Gio's SUV, not very comfortably and made are way to Sam's where Nashville had reserved the patio for a party. We were the first team to arrive and the last to leave. There were 25 free pitchers available to the teams and I know we drank at least 15-18 of those. The waitress loved us and kept us well stocked. After all the pitchers, free and purchased were drank and the numerous shots with the waitresses done, we closed our tabs and some headed to The Tin Roof Bar until 3:30am and others headed back to the hotel.

8:00am wake up calls came too early and when Brian and I arrived at the field at 9:40am for the 10:00am game only five other cars total were in the parking lot. The first games started very late as guys for all the teams slowly trickled in. John P showed up looking "blue" as he was attacked by his buddies with blue Sharpies since he passed out first. Various designs on his face, ears, neck and stomach were scrubbed and were faded, but did not come completely off. Our first game was against the Memphis "A" team which was lead by a midfielders from Towson, Lynchburg and Notre Dame. As you can imagine it was going to be rough. We were losing at half by quite a bit but not as much as you might imagine. Since our second game was against Memphis "B" they decided to play the "B" guys in the second half and just call it a day. The classic line of the day was John P. down on a knee at half drinking some water when the Towson midfielder packed up his stuff and has leaving the field, John says to him, "What...were we too much for you?" The Towson just looked at him and kept walking. We can roaring back in the second half and won the half, but to us won the game.

June 14th - TiN CaN LaCRoSSe vs South County ° TiN CaN prevailed in our first game of the season against South County at their location. Lots of cold beer and great conversation after the game.

2007

October 20th & 21st, 2007 – Louisville - Last tourney of the 2007 Fall season was a great time and great week-end of lacrosse with outstanding weather. The tourney was well run and featured great off-field activities and refreshments courtesy of the event sponsors. Hats off to Troy for standing tall in goal. Congrats to The Brave from Saint Louis for battling their way into the finals against the Flying Pigs from Chicago. The Tin Can had its moments of "semi-glory" at Louisville and throughout the Fall 2007 season. See you in the Spring and don’t forget to visit our sponsor.

August 11th & 12th, 2007 – Missouri Show-Me Games - Tough week-end of lacrosse in energy sapping heat. The Tin Can took it in the chin from The Braves and in the second game The Goodfellas squeaked past the Tin Can by one goal. Redemption was found in a victory over the Nude Noodlers (Columbia). On Sunday, the Tin Can battled both the heat and youth when they squared off against the Thundercats (Mizzou grads). The Tin Can hung tough until the bottom fell out in the fourth quarter and youth prevailed.

August 5th, 2007 – Parkway Central - Tin Can and South County squared off to battle each other and the 100+ degree heat. In the end, a good time was had by all. Thanks to the South County squad for making the trip up Interstate 270 on one of the hottest days of the year.

June 2007 – Nashville – Coming hot off their success in Louisville, Tin Can Lacrosse hit the road again and submerged themselves in a sea of lacrosse, cowboys hats and country music fans. Nashville was the destination and the weather was perfect for lacrosse. The trip was highlighted by attackman Dan Rogers making his debut in goal. As usual, he did not disappoint. Off the field, Tory Moore scoped out the best offerings in nighttime entertainment. All in all, it was another solid road trip and strong showing by the Tin Can.

May 19 & 20, 2007 - Louisville - Tin Can Lacrosse Club traveled strong to Louisville for a great week-end of lacrosse and competition. The trip was highlighted by a Dan Rogers hat trick and solid defense/goal play. Best dressed awards go to Shawn & Sharon Latino who were the only one’s allowed into Louisville’s finest night spots.

April 29, 2007 - Washington University - On a sun drenched day at historic Francis Field, the Tin Can Lacrosse team faced off against the Washington University Bears. The Tin Can started slowly and allowed the Bears to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st quarter. The tide would began to turn in the second as Brian Nix (Lindenwood) scored from the left off a nice feed. The Bears would answer with a tally only to have Bennett Shaw (Lindenwood) close out the scoring in the half leaving the Tin Can down 3-2.

After a moment of reflection in honor of Coach Mike Sennett at half, the Tin Can hit the field with some momentum. Dustin Crawford got the 3rd quarter scoring started with the equalizer that tied the score 3-3. From there the Tin Can would go on to wear down the Bears and step away with a 6-4 victory, the first of the season.

2006

October 14, 2006 - Louisville - Two days of great lacrosse and good competition. Great night out Saturday with bus transportation till 4:30am provided by the tournament organizers. Buses were a great tournament feature designed for the over indulgent and taken advantage of by our own Tin Can legal team.
